I began sculpting as a wonderful exploration of the physical world. After primarily painting or drawing for 30 years, it was time to work hands on in the medium my father, Jim Savage, had gained national recognition within his lifetime. His studio and work is currently on display at Center for Western Studies at Augustana College in Sioux Falls, SD.

The subjects of my first three pieces explored nature's instincts reflecting human characteristics I chose to define in clay and later bronze.
