Garden Project - Give "a little" which will help "a lot!"
I was one of 19 adults who participated on a mission trip to Denver in July,200, with Zion, South Canyon and Calvary Lutheran Churches of Rapid City. The participants ranged in ages 15, to well, I don't need to be specific, lets just say over 40. The mission trip was for the purpose of ingesting the ideas of various outreach social programs in the Denver area and upon return attempt to implement these ideas in Rapid City.

One of my ideas became this ad. It was my hope to create ways to implement in Rapid City, the life empowering programs I as evolved in as a participant of this mission trip. One such opportunity came to mind while harvesting the excess amount of cucumbers my garden had produced. Bring awareness to gardeners in and around Rapid City to share and distribute the excess fresh produce grown to those in need. Typically a garden produces much more than its caretaker can eat or give to friends and neighbors. Simply provding a drop-off at local churches or businesses and distribution couriers to Church Response could allow us all to give "a little" which will "help a lot!"

I made calls to several churches and two businesses I frequent. I asked them if they would be a drop-off for the produce and then I would just come by weekly or twice a week and pick up and deliver to Church Response. They said yes.

The next step was getting the word out. The Rapid City Journal was great at running the ad I had layed-out and dropped off for them to run. It ran for five weeks and the drop-off spots received over 450 pounds of fresh produce which was distributed to Church Response of Rapid City. Garden fresh produce for over 400 families weekly. Wow, thanks for all of those who helped!
