Meet and Greet the Artist, Connie Savage Thiewes

Art shows were the main form of getting out and meeting the public back in the 70's. I attended many art shows with my father, Jim Savage and my mother, Shirley. She loved to be out chatting it up with all of the attendees while my dad would be working on his portable carving bench.

I would find a chair out of harms way, walk around, view the pottery, paintings or sculptures on display by others. Occasionally I would strike up a conversation with the artists about their medium or style. I would bring a pad of paper to draw or find a quiet out-of-the-way place to take a nap(after all I was a teenager.)

As an adult I began painting and showing my works at many of the same art shows. I was artist-in-residence at Custer State Park, SD, for 9 summers. The Internet in the early days offered me a chance to do things differently. I began designing web sites and working with local businesses as a graphic artist.

I am more content behind the canvas, computer or camera then traveling to art shows. I balance my time with family, friends, tennis, the gym, yoga, reading, traveling and rummage saling. My newest ventures are teaching art to our grandchildren, museum visits, photography studies and online marketing with Pintrest, Blogs and Facebook.

Social networking, blogging and my products online is an flexible and convenient. Find me online, I would love to hear from you. Thanks, Connie
